Hello,
I will deploy a monitoring solution on a host managed by DebOps and I
would like to:
- get your feedback on monitoring solutions currently part of DebOps
(like monit, Icinga and others [1])
- know futur of monitoring in DebOps: is there any plans to support new
softwares ?

At the moment roles for Prometheus[1] and Grafana[2] are in pull requests, I'm
not sure about their readiness for merge yet. Perhaps you would want to test
them and report the results?
I plan to work on roles for Munin (server and client) as a bit easier setup to
manage than Icinga. But that's still a long way from being complete.

Yes, I've seen these PR. I missed to mentioned them in my previous mail.
Prometheus/Grafana seems to be interesting and popular. But they are
certainly a bit overkilled for my usage so I'm not sure I will test it.

In that case, monit should probably do the job nicely. It's lightweight and
you can monitor the state of remote services from one host. Although if you
want to interact with them in case of issues, for example doing automate
service restarts, Icinga could probably be better suited if we are talking
about stuff available in DebOps at the moment.
What's your take on Zabbix ?
I tested it for some time about 10 years ago, haven't touched it since. It
might be interesting to have in DebOps in the future.

I use DebOps roles for Zabbix agent and proxy. Server is managed
manually.
In case somebody is interested I will happily polish the roles a bit and
publish them.

I am not sure if it suites for you, but some month ago I had installed
'collectd'[1] on one of my router to gather some system / network.
All of the metrics have been send to an InfluxDB instance (which is included in DebOps)
and visualized (on a different system) via Grafana.
For the router is is quite nice, because I do not have to store any logging data at this
device and 'collectd' is quite small, but if the network is broken, I do not get
any metrics currently : /

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's not possible to get metrics with monit.
I mean having state of previous days like Munin do.
