In that case, monit should probably do the job nicely. It's lightweight and
you can monitor the state of remote services from one host.
Correct me if I'm wrong but it's not possible to get metrics with monit.
I mean having state of previous days like Munin do.
I tested it for some time about 10 years ago, haven't touched it
since. It
might be interesting to have in DebOps in the future.
